It’s never too late to get an education, according to a group of students who have just successfully completed an ITQ Level 1 course run by RACC (Richmond Adult Community College).
Rohna Roberts, David Fox-Lee, Patricia Allgood and Ewa Paliga aged between 28 and 75 and from a variety of different working backgrounds, all live in Mortlake and are just four of the successful eight who completed the course. They studied their ITQ course at Mortlake Community Association (MCA), an organisation which works with the residents and other local organisations to provide facilities to improve life in Mortlake. The course was designed to give the students a rounded understanding of Microsoft Office applications and the students covered subjects such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and internet and emailing.
Having completed their assessment and portfolio of work, the four students received their completion certificated from Natalia Farinha Learning Manager at RACC and Darren Thornton Community Development Manager at MCA.
Natalia Farinha Learning Manager at RACC said “All the students worked hard to achieve their full Level 1 qualification and successfully completed four units of work. I wish them every success for the future.
Looking forward, the students all have different plans – Ewa is looking for an office based job, Patricia is going to use her email and internet skills to keep in touch with family and friends, David will use his new found confidence with IT for work and Rhona is keen to pursue a Higher Education course.
Darren Thornton Community Development Manager at MCA said “We worked with RACC to put the course together and we feel it’s been a great success. Depending on funding, we would hope to run this course again and to run the ITQ Level 2 course in the New Year, so that students can progress to the next level.
