RACC achieves Outstanding award for Adult Learning

Date:
6 July 2010

RACC (Richmond Adult Community College) has achieved an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted in a report published today (25 June 2010) – the highest possible grade awarded by Ofsted.

Following its inspection in May 2010, RACC, was graded ’Outstanding’ for the second time (January 2006 and May 2010).  Inspectors praised the excellent achievement of learners and noted that "managers and governors demonstrate exceptional capacity to secure improvements for learners and to the quality of the provision."

RACC Principal Christina Conroy said "The College has had to respond to many changes caused by Government funding cuts since our last Grade 1 Ofsted rating in January 2006.  We have engaged new learner groups, run new types of qualifications, dealt with 25 per cent cuts in funding, overcome problems with our capital funding for re-building the Clifden site and seen reductions in our staffing levels. Yet the College, despite all these challenges, continues to deliver a Grade 1 performance.

"Our commitment to our learners shone through and Ofsted were really impressed with the service we deliver for our local community.  I am very proud of the RACC team who continue to deliver learning excellence whatever the challenge."

The overall grades of the inspection were as follows:

  • Overall Effectiveness Grade 1 Outstanding
  • Capacity to Improve Grade 1 Outstanding
  • Leadership and Management Grade 1 Outstanding
  • Outcomes for Learners Grade 1 Outstanding
  • Quality of Provision Grade 2 Good

The inspection was carried out between 17-21 May 2010.
