Drama student turns to crime for a living

Date:
9 December 2010

Daniel Grainger

Daniel Grainger, a student on the Access to Drama course at RACC (Richmond Adult Community College) was recently successful in auditions for a Maverick TV production for BBC3.

Daniel, 30, from Barnes, was encouraged to go for the audition for the comedy drama "Bizarre Crime" by his Tutor Fern-Chantele Carter. Having completed a successful audition, Daniel was selected from 25 other budding actors by the Senior Director who chose Daniel based on his range of facial expressions.

Daniel plays an aggressive and stupid Bank Robber in the programme which illustrates real crimes which, took place in the UK, Eastern Europe and the USA. His character is out of his depth and uses household items and fruit and vegetables for his heist - items such as a courgette, a potato peeler, a banana, a spoon and a toothbrush.

Daniel had to film 25 scenes in 2hrs 45mins in the small stuffy Pawn Brokers in Camden, North London. Most scenes were a ‘wrap’ on the first take, leaving the Director very impressed with Daniels abilities.

The programme is due to be screened on BBC3 between January and April next year.
