Course Overview:

This course will introduce you to the basic elements of creative writing

Entry Requirements:

This course is suitable for beginners and for those already writing who wish to impact their chosen form by broadening their creative scope. Level 2 literacy (GCSE A*-C or equivalent)or above recommended for this course.

Course Content:

This short course will give you an introduction to creative writing and provides an overall approach to poetry, flash fiction, play-writing and the short story. You will learn about characterisation, story structure, plotting, dialogue, choosing the correct viewpoint and lots more. Students will learn and develop work-shopping skills in a safe, supportive space and work towards completing a portfolio of work by the end of the course. You will be able to find out what sort of writing suits you and develop your own work in an encouraging and friendly atmosphere.

Assessment Methods:

Your progress and understanding will be assessed informally during discussion, group work and pair work as well as by question and answer sessions.
